Sveinstindar Peaks

About the place
Sveinstindur is a sharp 1090-metre peak at the southern end of Langisjór, a long, narrow glacial lake in Iceland's southern highlands. The climb is short and not technical, but the summit opens a vast highland panorama: the dark lake below and, on a clear day, a ring of glaciers, volcanoes and lava desert in every direction. The hard part is the approach — the trailhead sits at the end of a rough mountain F-road, far from the nearest village.
