Langisjor Campsite

About the place
Langisjór is a slender, glacier-fed lake in the southern highlands of Iceland, hemmed by black volcanic ridges with the Vatnajökull ice cap behind. Its north-eastern shore holds a bare wilderness campsite and the trailhead for Sveinstindur, a marked climb to a wide panorama over the lake, the Lakagígar craters and distant glaciers. Reaching it means a rough summer F-road with river fords and a 4x4 — and near-total solitude.
