Langisjor Campsite

Langisjor campsite lies at the edge of a 20 km long lake, flanked by black volcanic mountains and Vatnajokull glacier. The minimalist facilities are compensated by otherworldly landscapes: turquoise waters against black sands and vivid green moss. The silence here is profound and almost tangible. Access requires driving the F235 mountain road with river crossings, suitable only for prepared 4x4 vehicles. From the campsite, a hiking trail leads to Sveinstindur mountain, offering panoramic views of the lake, mountains, and the Grimsvotn volcano dome.
