Jokulsarlon Iceberg Lagoon

Jokulsarlon Iceberg Lagoon

About the place

A glacial lagoon on Iceland's South Coast, right off the Ring Road. Icebergs break off the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier and drift across the still water in milky white, deep blue and ash-streaked black, before slipping through a short channel to the sea. Seals swim among them and skuas circle overhead. Watch from the shore for free, take a boat among the ice in summer, then cross to Diamond Beach, where stranded bergs rest on black sand.
