Jokulsarlon Iceberg Lagoon

Jokulsarlon Iceberg Lagoon

About the place

Jokulsarlon Iceberg Lagoon is Iceland’s most famous and deepest glacier lagoon, located at the base of the Breidamerkurjokull glacier. The lagoon is filled with colossal icebergs that have broken off the glacier and drift slowly toward the ocean. Visitors can see ice in every shade, from dazzling white to bright blue and coal-black. The surrounding landscape is quiet and stark, with massive ice mountains silently gliding across mirror-like water. The lagoon is home to wildlife, including curious seals and nesting seabirds like skuas and Arctic terns.
