Fjallsárlón Iceberg Lagoon

Fjallsárlón is a quiet glacier lagoon on Iceland's south coast, its water full of icebergs that calve from Fjallsjökull, an outlet of the Vatnajökull ice cap below the volcano Öræfajökull. Parking is free, and a walk of about ten minutes reaches a shore close enough to hear the ice crack; in summer, Zodiac boats thread among the bergs. Far smaller and calmer than Jökulsárlón up the road, it is a place to watch the ice in peace, minutes from Diamond Beach.
