Laki Viewpoint
About the place
Laki Viewpoint sits atop Mount Laki in Iceland's southern highlands, overlooking the Lakagígar crater row — about 130 craters that erupted in 1783 along a 27 km fissure, one of the largest lava eruptions in recorded history. Green moss now covers the black lava. On a clear day the view reaches the Vatnajökull and Mýrdalsjökull ice caps. The site is remote and hard to reach.
