Trolladyngja Mountain
About the place
The name promises a troll's shield volcano, yet Trölladyngja is nothing of the sort. It and its near-twin Grænadyngja were built up by eruptions under an ice-age glacier, leaving steep palagonite slopes streaked red and yellow. The roughly 380-metre peak marks the north end of the Núpshlíðarháls ridge on Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula.
