Urdakirkja

Urdakirkja is a historic wooden church built in 1902 after the previous one was destroyed by a storm. The church stands out with its white facade, bright green roof, and red details, making it highly photogenic against the majestic northern mountains. Inside, it preserves an old altar and the cozy atmosphere of a community parish. The church site is mentioned in ancient sagas, highlighting its centuries-long history. The cemetery next to the church is considered one of the most beautiful in the region due to the surrounding snow-capped peaks.
