Urridafoss Waterfall

Urridafoss Waterfall

About the place

Urridafoss lies on the lower course of the Thjorsa, Iceland’s longest river, where immense water volume forms roaring rapids. The waterfall is broad rather than tall, flowing over dark volcanic rock and contrasting with fast white water. A short path leads from the parking area to viewpoints, making it ideal for quick stops. Historically, the site was considered for hydroelectric development, but the river remains free-flowing today.
