Utsynispallur Viewpoint
About the place
Útsýnispallur — Icelandic for “the viewing platform” — is a roadside stop on the mountain road above Siglufjörður. It gives the town's postcard view in a single pull-in: the harbour, the brightly painted houses, the small airstrip and the cemetery below, all ringed by the sheer peaks of the Tröllaskagi peninsula. Siglufjörður was the busy heart of Iceland's herring era and is often called its northernmost town. Picnic tables wait at the platform, one sheltered from the wind.
