Dynkur Waterfall

Dynkur Waterfall

About the place

Dynkur Waterfall is fed by the Þjórsá River, Iceland’s longest river, which carves its way through volcanic plains before dropping in several dramatic steps. The surrounding area is largely untouched, making the site feel remote and rarely visited compared to other waterfalls in the region. Access often requires a capable 4x4 vehicle, as routes pass through gravel tracks and river-cut highland terrain. The viewpoint offers a sweeping panorama of the river, basalt cliffs, and the multiple tiers of the waterfall.
