Osver Maritime Museum

About the place
Ósvör is a reconstructed 19th-century fishing station on the shore at Bolungarvík, one of the oldest fishing spots in the Westfjords. Under a low turf roof are the crew's cramped sleeping quarters, the salt house and the drying hut, with the rowing boat Ölver on the slipway. A curator in traditional sheepskin sea-gear guides visitors and describes how a boat crew lived and worked through a fishing season.
